I would like to send a very heartfelt Mahalo
To Mr. Danny Couch![]()
This very simple gift is a thank you, to you, Danny, whose stunning
music has made such a huge impact on myself and others. It has been a
privilege to work so closely with you and your music these past Eight Years.
May everything Golden come your way.
The custom of giving and receiving leis began in the days of "Old Hawai'i."
The lei is the Hawaiian symbol of aloha, love, appreciation, and accomplishment.
Malihini (newcomers/visitors) often misperceive a Maile Lei as just a "bunch of leaves".
Danny is a gracious host. To me Maile and Ilima (Ali'is leis) are tokens of
"The Spirit of Aloha".
A small but sincere way to say thank-you for sharing with us, all of us..
Your gift of music.
Perhaps you are not "Royalty" as in the days of "Old".
But the stage is your Kingdom, you rule your subjects
with an affable presence, and a commanding voice.
The decoration is befitting a King!
Who else deserves it more, then a member of The Ali'is?
The lei as a symbol of Hawaiian beauty and culture. With the spirit and special blessings of Aloha,
the giving of a lei, accompanied by a kiss on the cheek, speaks of the island philosophy of kindness and love.
Mahalo nui loa for
supporting, and joining me in this endeavor.
It sounds so much better in Hawaiian!
